Mobile Health Team Offers In-Home Vaccination for Homebound Residents

Flu season is here, and getting vaccinated is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and the people around you. For some residents, though, getting to a vaccination clinic isn’t possible.

Our Mobile Health Team provides in-home flu vaccinations for homebound individuals. A nurse comes to your door, so there’s no transportation to arrange and no waiting room.

Older adults and people with chronic health conditions are more likely to become seriously ill from the flu. Those same residents are often the ones who have the hardest time leaving home. A yearly flu vaccine lowers the risk of severe illness and hospitalization. It also helps protect family members and caregivers who spend time with them.

Who this Service is for

This service is for residents who are homebound and unable to travel to a clinic. If you have a neighbor, parent, or friend in that situation, please pass this along. Many people who qualify don’t know the option exists, and a quick conversation could make a real difference for them.

How to Schedule a Visit

Call the Uncas Health District office at 860-823-1189, ext. 116, to schedule an appointment. You can also visit uncashd.org to learn more.

Flu season runs through the winter, but vaccination works best when it happens early. If you or someone you know needs this service, we encourage you to call soon.
