All hair salons, barbershops and nail salons in the District must be licensed.

The State of Connecticut has empowered and required all local health directors, per section 44 of Public Act 01-4, to conduct annual inspections, regarding sanitary conditions, of any "salon" or "nail technician" as defined in CT Gen Statute 20-250, within their jurisdiction.

The District licenses and inspects all Barbershops, Hair Salons and nail salons in our jurisdiction. The licenses issued from the district run from July 1 – June 30th each year.  Inspections are conducting on an annual basis, and in the event of a complaint. The focus of these inspections is to ensure that sanitary conditions are being met and to reduce the likelihood of disease transmission.
